3rd International Conference on: “Prevention of Doping in Sport” (ICPDS 2019)

 The consortium of the C.S.I. project organized the 3rd International Conference on “Prevention of Doping in Sport” (ICPDS 2019) that was held in Thessaloniki, Greece. The C.S.I. partners presented the core deliverables of the project, i.e., the long and short course educating coaches on sport integrity. Furthermore, partners presented the project activities and the impact of the project in their countries.

CSI at the Portugal Coaches Conference
CSI project partner Treinadores participated at the Portugal Coaches Conference at Portimão, Portugal. CSI team members presented the aims of the project and the CSI educational material.

CSI at the Sport and Innovation Conference
CSI project partner Hungarian Coaching Association participated at the Sport and Innovation Conference in Budapest, Hungary and presented the projects aims and objectives.

CSI at sports clubs in Thessaloniki

Pilot use of the course for educating Coaches on Sports Integrity
The pilot test of the course for educating Coaches on Sports Integrity has been completed in Greece, Romania and Hungary. The pilot test has been performed by the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the National University of Physical Education and Sports, and the Hungarian Coaching Association respectively.

CSI at the ICPESK 2019

 

CSI project team member Mr Theodorou presented the aims of the project at the International Congress of Physical Education, Sports and Kinetotherapy, at the UNEFS UNIVERSITY, in Bucarest, Romania. Mr Theodorou focused on the study of corruption in football in Greece.

 

 

Multiplier events in UK

UK multiplier events co-organized by SHU and ICCE, with a total number of 87 attendants. The first multiplier event took place at Loughborough University’s Elite Athlete Centre. Attendees were professional weightlifting coaches. Another event took place today in Sheffield with personal trainers and coaches. The last multiplier event that took place in Hallam Barbell Club – a Sheffield-based community gym specializing in amateur and competitive weightlifting, powerlifting, and strongman competition. 

 

Multiplier events in Greece 

CSI project partner AUTH organized the first multiplier event to winter sport coaches together with the Hellenic Ski Federation event in Thessaloniki, Greece. The second multiplier event was co-organized with the Greek Anti-Doping Organization and the Greek Association of Exercise Biochemistry and Physiology. The event was held in Thessaloniki and was attended by sport federation representatives, academics and students. 

 

Multiplier events in Hungary

CSI project partner Hungarian Coaching Association organized the multiplier event in Budapest. Hungarian Anti Doping Agency refers to CSI project during its education programs organized for national sports federations.

CSI partner KEA organized the multiplier event in Athens, Greece. 

  

Multiplier events in Romania

 CSI project team partner UNEFS organized a workshop on “Building trust in sport through coaches’ integrity” at the International Congress of Physical Education, Sports and Kinetotherapy in Bucharest, Romania.

 

 

Multiplier events in Portugal

CSI project partner Treinadores organized the multiplier event in Lisbon, Portugal. Kee partners of the event was National Olympic Committee and Portugal Anti-Doping Agency that agreed to continue to promote the CSI contents during its education programs organized for national sports federations, clubs, associations and other organizations.

Multiplier events in Finland

 CSI project's partner SAVAL presented the project and its outcomes in training course for coaches in Varala Sports Institute in Finland.

 

CSI project at the 12th Global Coaching Conference

Dr Barkoukis and Ms Horvath presented the C.S.I. project at the 12th Global Coaching Conference, held in Tokyo. The basic aims and objectives of the project were presented.

CSI project team member Dr. Stoicescu participated at the 13th International Session for Educators of Higher Institutes of Physical Education organized by International Olympic Academy in Olympia, Greece.

The session brought together more than 70 sport management professors, sport sociologists, sport psychologists, exercise science professors and researchers from all around the world. Among the session topics discussed were Sport Diplomacy, Olympism and the Olympic Truce, the educational values of sport, integrity in sport and the main threats in sport. During the conference, the CSI project team member presented the objectives and the modules of the course

CSI team member Dr Lazuras presented project CSI to the students and academic staff and the Self-affirmation Research Group of the School of Psychology at the University of Sussex, on May 8th 2019. The project was discussed in the context of using behavioural science interventions to prevent the use of doping substances in elite and in amateur sport. A student-athlete from the audience commented Dr Lazuras for the relevance and importance of his research and said that such projects are really needed to safeguard athletes from doping and related threats to sport integrity.

The CSI team promoted integrity in sports to the participants of the 14th International Marathon ‘Alexander the Great’, held in Thessaloniki, Greece. This is the biggest running event in Northern Greece, attracting more than 20.000 participants every year (marathon run, 1000m, 5.000m and 10.000m runs). The CSI team distributed leaflets to adult and minor participants, their escorts, as well as to spectators of the event, increasing their awareness about the hazards of corruption in competitive and recreational sport.

CSI project team member Dr Daroglou presented the CSI modules at the 22nd International Congress of Physical Education and Sport Science in Thessaloniki, Creece.

CSI project participated in the 4rth International Exhibition of Sports (SPORTEXPO) held in Thessaloniki, Greece. The CSI team distributed leaflets at the exhibition, and approached exercisers to inform them about sports integrity and increase their awareness about the hazards of corruption in competitive and recreational sport.

12th - 14th of December

CSI team member Dr Barkoukis presented the CSI project, the educational approach used in the project and presented the educational material of the project.

CSI at the PINFO Antidoping seminar in Sofia

    On 24 and 25 of January 2018, Dr Barkoukis, a CSI team member participated in the “Preventing Doping in Professional and in Grassroots Sport through Education and Investigation” in Sofia, Bulgaria. Current developments on anti-doping education, was presented by Dr Barkoukis and he introduced the basic concepts of CSI project to European NADO’s and Ministries’ representatives.

    On this high-level 2-day event, representatives from the European Commission and the European Parliament, the member states, the Olympic movement, the civil society organisations and further stakeholders came together. This event was opened by Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport.

    The first panel dealt with the investigation and data protection by presenting the Study on data protection and anti-doping which represents one of the many consequences of the new GDPR. Moreover, it has been showed the state of play of the fight against doping by the Interpol and WADA representatives and how the cooperation between law enforcement and anti-doping authorities should increase.

    The second day focused on prevention through education.

Kick-off meeting of the CSI
    The kick-off partner meeting of CSI project was held in Athens, Greece. The Greek partner presented the management and project monitoring procedures. Project’s partners discussed the content of the educating material and the layout of the training course, and set the milestones for the upcoming activities.
